Vino Tinto el Maldito

Finca El Maldito

Only when the terroir and the vintage allow it, and after a meticulous selection of specific plots, does the wine “Finca El Maldito” come to life. To date, only one vintage exists—2012—and it will be released with just 230 bottles, when the Martínez Palmero family decides the optimal moment for consumption.

This wine is a humble tribute to the man who once cared for and cultivated the very plots where the winery and its vineyards now stand. A tough man, like Rafael “El Maldito”, who lived for 104 years in Ahillas.
Contains sulfites.

Elaboración

The grapes for this wine were vinified together from harvest, with Bobal as the predominant variety, complemented by small amounts of Tempranillo, Prieto Picudo, and Mencía. Fermentation was carefully controlled in tanks at 26°C over a period of three weeks, using only manual punch-downs.

The wine was aged in new French oak barrels from Allier, with a medium-plus toast. It remained in barrel for 14 months, and the bottle aging period is still to be determined based on ongoing tastings.
